Loma, Colorado Business Provides Healing for Those Who are Overcoming Impacts of Trauma
How and when did you get started?
Harmony Acres Equestrian Center is celebrating 10 years of providing healing to the Western Slope of Colorado. Our very special 24-acre property in Loma, CO cares for the welfare of both animals and people–supporting the needs of individuals who are overcoming the impacts of trauma (foster care, childhood abuse, Military Veterans) and disability by pairing them with our team of four-legged therapists.
What is your mission in the horse industry?
The mission of Harmony Acres is to create a place where people and animals come together for the purpose of healing and to educate the community as to the value of every individual life. This is accomplished by creating a sanctuary and a place for healing where each individual can recognize their innate value and purpose through guided therapeutic interaction with animals.
Have you won any special awards or recognition?
We receive community grants each year to support the therapeutic work that we do.
Describe what sets your organization or business apart from the competition?
Our organization boasts the passionate support of over 100 volunteers, along with 11 staff and a large amount of community support. It is the passion and expertise of our team, along with the powerful support of our community, that allows us to serve approximately 350 individuals each year through animal-assisted services.
What can clients or members expect to gain from your product or membership?
When you support Harmony Acres you become part of a circle of healing, that goes first to the animal and then to all the individuals they support. Our animals receive the best possible care and are waiting at the gate every day, eager to participate in the healing process.
