Do you have a favorite Trainer or how about a young person who is doing cool things in Colorado? We want to highlight some of the best trainers and young people in our state so if you know someone that has made a difference in your life or the life of others please share this and let us celebrate what they are doing in the industry.
One of my passions as publisher of The Northwest Horse Source over the years has been focusing on trainers and youth in our region and I feel that our community needs to support and encourage both our trainers and youth. We need them as horse owners because trainers keep us safe and help us get the most out of our life with horses. Our youth represent the future of the horse industry in Colorado. I’ve had the privilege of working in the horse industry publishing for over 25 years and looking forward to meeting the youth and trainers in Colorado. Please take time to share this with any trainers or youth that we can spotlight in our publication and below you will find links to complete a form so we can schedule you for an upcoming issue of the Colorado Horse Source! See a sample from our NW Site.
Please complete the appropriate form:
For trainers submit your information here.
For Youth 18 and under submit your information here. Please note, the youth entries do not have to be show accomplishments. Any youth doing cool things with horses would be gladly accepted.
Please share this with anyone you know that deserves some recognition in our publication, both online and in print!
Finally, we may not be able to print all of them so be sure and get yours in today! I look forward to meeting all of you at an event somewhere in Colorado!
Cheers, Karen Pickering
Owner/Publisher Karen’s lifelong love of horses began at a very early age when she wore out a couple of rocking horses before convincing her parents to get her the real thing. That ill-tempered bay gelding, Brandy, was a challenge for the young horsewoman, but it drove her ambition to become a horse trainer. After attending Canyonview Equestrian College’s Horsemanship Program, Karen realized she needed work that was a little more lucrative than training, so she took a job with Customs Brokerage to pay the bills. There, she discovered an affinity for computers and a talent for creating informative, entertaining newsletters. The Northwest Horse Source began as such a letter in December 1995, with a distribution of 1000 copies for its 12 black and white pages. Now 25 years later, it’s an online magazine and website with a reach of over 10,000 per month and growing! Not bad for the results of one woman’s dream to work with horses!
Today, Karen remains involved with every aspect of the magazine and treasures the community of thousands who share a common passion. Now excited to start a version of her original magazine in Colorado!
